Top 10 Effective Social Media Platforms for Marketing Strategy Part 2

01 February 2022

In the first part of this article, we reveal the top 3 social media platforms which are effective for marketing strategy. They are Facebook, YouTube, and Facebook Messenger. However, some businesses might want to try other social media channels to boost brand promotion through influencer marketing and provide great customer care via outsourcing customer service.

Below is another set of three social media platforms that can bring your brand to success:

WhatsApp. WhatsApp Messenger was created by WhatsApp Inc. of Mountain View, California. This American freeware, multi-platform messaging app was founded by Brian Acton and Jan Koum, both former employees of Yahoo! in 2009. It allows users to send text and voice messages, make video and voice calls, share images, documents, and other content. WhatsApp runs on mobile devices, but it can also be used on desktops and laptops, as long as it stays connected to a Wi-Fi connection. The service requires a cellular phone number to sign up. It became the world’s most famous messaging app in 2015. In February 2020, the number of users reached over 2 billion users and became the primary means of communication in different countries, including Latin America, the Indian subcontinent, and large parts of Europe and Africa. WhatsApp does not appeal to influencer marketing, like Facebook Messenger, but it can be helpful for business transactions and outsourcing customer service to assist customer-related issues and concerns. In January 2018, WhatsApp released a standalone business app that targeted small marketers. It is called WhatsApp Business.

Instagram. Founded by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in October 2010, Instagram or IG is an American photo and video sharing social media application. In just one day, the number of users soared up to 25,000! The primary purpose of the app was to feature photos, particularly those taken on cellular phones. In April 2012, Facebook acquired the service for approximately US$1 billion in cash and stock. Influencer Marketing on Instagram is a good marketing strategy that you should definitely explore. IG influencers are proven to be a great help in many brands that skyrocketed their sales and profits. By outsourcing influencer marketing through Instagram, brands can endorse their latest products, attract and accumulate new customers, and stay connected with loyal customers. There are numerous reasons why influencer marketing on Instagram can be so effective for e-commerce businesses. Like on Facebook, Cristiano Ronaldo, a Portuguese football player, is the most followed influencer on Instagram.

Twitter. Twitter was created by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams in March 2006. It is initially called Twttr, and it is an American microblogging service in which users can post and interact by sending short messages known as “tweets.” Aside from this, they can like, retweet, and quote tweets to spread the posts. However, unregistered users can only read posts that are publicly posted. Originally, tweets were restricted to 140 characters. But in November 2017, the limit was doubled to 280. Audio and video tweets remain limited to 140 seconds. By 2012, more than 100 million users posted 340 million tweets a day. In 2013, it was one of the ten most-visited websites and described as “the SMS of the Internet.” Twitter has reached more than 330 million monthly active users. Surprisingly, former US President Barack Obama is the most-followed person on Twitter, with more than 130 million followers!
